Professional Skaters Association Announces Winners of the 2024 EDI Awards

The Professional Skaters Association (PSA) is proud to announce the winners of the annual EDI Awards.

The Education and Dedication International (EDI) Awards are named after the late World and Olympic coach, Edi Scholdan, who died in the 1961 world team plane crash. Scholdan was the first president of the PSA and inspiration for the awards, which recognize exceptional achievement in the sport of figure skating.

The presentation of these awards will take place on Wednesday, May 15, at the 2024 U.S. Figure Skating “Access to Excellence Reception” in Colorado Springs, CO.


 

EDI Award Winners 


F. Ritter Shumway Award

Diane Miller

Presented to a person in the skating world who has earned distinction for unending dedication and significant contribution to the world of figure skating.  

 

Inspire Award

Howard University – Maya James & Cheyenne Walker

The Inspire Award honors the cumulative contributions of a person in the skating world who has advanced diversity, equity, and inclusion with contributions that have resulted in a positive outcome to their community or arena.

*name changed in 2023 from Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award

 

Joe Serafine Volunteer of the Year

Recognized for outstanding service to the PSA over the past year. 

 

Legends Award

John A. W. Nicks

This award is presented to a skater or coach who has brought recognition to the sport in a positive and favorable manner. The winner exemplifies a level of distinction like the legendary figures who have come before.


2024 President’s Award of Excellence

The President’s Award of Excellence recognizes exceptional coaches in all disciplines for their positive contributions to the sport of figure skating.
